Finding the thread that links sewing, art, antiques, vintage, life skills, traditions, history and culture is always on my mind.  Obviously, 4 out of 8 are visual.  The visual factor is the path that takes us back and forth between abstract and concrete. The old label “home economics” encompassed these topics, but in our heavily specialized world, such a broad label is not all that useful.  Just to get a handle on understanding and to bring some order, we are driven to simplicity just to deal.  Art helps us remember the nuances and the many possibilities we don’t know or have forgotten.

Visual pathways help us integrate time and wisdom before and after us.

May there be some healing and encouraging words from the yoga traditions, reposted from half moon yoga.org.

I’m always seeking the connection between the things you list, too–my “loving hands at home” theme grew out of my thinking on the subject. BTW, I’ll be on the Gulf Coast of FL next week and on Anna Maria Island in a another month or so–that photo gets me excited!

Finding succinct words to express complex relationships is a huge challenge, and it both motivates and frustrates me. Congratulations on getting to the Gulf Coast, especially this time of year. I can’t wait to hear about your trip! Are you driving?

No, we’re flying–driving from upstate New York wouldn’t add to the fun. We’re going to Punta Gorda and Sanibel this trip, and to Bradenton in March–that’s when we’ll visit Anna Maria. Our friends down there keep apologizing that it’ll be cold (for Florida) but, since it minus 14 here yesterday morning, we’re not worried!
